Serving Hamilton

Plumbing help across Hamilton and the surrounding area.

Hamilton has some of the oldest housing in our service area, from century homes in Westdale and Dundas to newer builds in Waterdown and parts of Stoney Creek. Older pipe, hillside lots and renovations are common, so careful diagnosis matters. We explain what we find before we touch anything.

Local conditions

What Hamilton plumbing looks like

The age of the house and the local water decide most plumbing problems. Here is what we plan around in Hamilton.

Older homes and older pipe

Many Hamilton houses are decades or a century old. Lead, galvanized steel and old fittings can still be present in some of them.

Lead service lines

Hamilton has written to owners of homes built before 1955 about lead water services. The private side belongs to the owner, so it is worth knowing what you have.

Escarpment slopes and basements

Hillside lots can mean water movement around foundations. A sump pump and clear drains matter in wet weather.

Mix of city and suburban housing

Within a short drive you can find tight city lots, older Dundas streets and newer suburban homes, each with different needs.

Lead water services

The City of Hamilton says work on the private-property portion of a water pipe is the homeowner's responsibility, while Hamilton Water handles the City portion. The City runs a lead service replacement program, and residents can ask about checking their pipe. See the City page for current details.
